Against competitors of different ages and genders, Olive completed the 9k course in 63 minutes and scored an outstanding 3896 out of 4000 points.

Olive scored the maximum amount of points for her team in this round of national level competition.

The event pushed both competitors’ minds and muscles as they navigated their way across tough terrain in the Quantocks. Points were awarded to those athletes who visited the largest number of difficult locations on the course.

Olive has had an exceptional season competing with KERNO, Cornwall’s Orienteering Club, leading to her winning the entire season trophy. The trophy is awarded to the orienteer who scores the highest amount of points throughout the season.

In order to gain this coveted title, Olive completed five 9k orange courses in record time. This is her first season competing solo.

The season has also seen her tackle a handful of the more technical Short Green courses and earned fourth place overall.

Olive said: “It’s really exciting and I’m so proud to have achieved so much already. I really enjoy map reading and sprinting so it’s a great way to combine them.”

Head of Prep, Annabel Ramsey said: “It’s an amazing achievement and another fantastic example of the huge range of talents our girls have here at Truro High. Orienteering is a really unique sport and we are incredibly proud to see Olive doing so well at something she clearly loves.”
