Even more impressive, the team scored 46 times over the course of the tournament and didn’t concede a single goal.

They put in an impeccable performance despite the wet and windy weather, and there wasn’t a single complaint about the dismal conditions throughout.

Team coach, Mr Tom Elliot said: “Despite being wet through and chilled to the bone, the girls played some exceptional quality hockey. They gained confidence throughout the tournament, with excellent defence and goalkeeping, and we are incredibly proud that their hard work has been rewarded.”

The team sailed through the group rounds winning all of their matches by some way. The semi-finals against Penair proved more of a challenge, but the team rallied together and ended play with a 6-0 victory. The final saw the team pitted against Launceston College and finish 2-0.

As a result of their success, they will be heading to Millfield School for the tournament’s regional finals this Spring.

Also in the team, but not pictured, was Year 8 Sienna who played a vital role in helping the under 13s storm to victory.

It’s a particularly exciting time for one of the team’s players who, this December, received the news that she will join her older sisters to play hockey for her country.

12-year-old Emma impressed the national assessors and coaches at the UK Festival of Hockey leading to her claiming one of the sought-after spots to represent her country with the under 14 squad.

She joins her twin sisters Katie and Lucy who received the England call-up last January and currently play for the UK Lions.

Over the next twelve months she will compete in tournaments in Eindhoven and Belfast. Katie and Lucy will also be representing their country in Belfast this summer.
