The ABRSM Grade 4 exam tests scales, arpeggios, sight-reading and aural skills and is a standard which is usually only reached by students during their teenage years.

The Prep 5 musician put in an accomplished performance gaining a Merit in the exam set by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Even more impressive, Victoria’s score was only five marks off a Distinction.

Having progressed from Grade 2 in less than a year, Victoria has been invited to join the school’s Senior String Ensemble and now performs alongside students many years her senior, all the way up to Year 12.

Victoria’s violin teacher, Mrs Lucy Stephens said “Victoria absolutely loves playing and her drive to achieve her very best is incredible. She has really taken off over the last twelve months so I felt she would really benefit from the opportunity to push herself amongst our older musicians.”

The ensemble has been busy rehearsing for a series of performances coming up later this term including the Senior School Lent Term concert and the latest instalment of the school’s afternoon recital series.
