The top girls’ school has placed 140th nationally in the league table, an improvement of 43 places on last year. Truro High remains the only school in the county to be named in the list of the South West’s top 20 schools.
Published annually, the Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide league tables identify the 2000 highest-achieving schools in the UK ranked by their recent examination results.
The announcement rounds off a fantastic year at the school which achieved a 59% A*/A pass rate at A Level earning it the title of the highest ranked small independent school in England for A Level results.
Headmistress Mrs Sarah Matthews said: “This is an absolutely fantastic achievement of which we are all tremendously proud. To be ranked as the only school in Cornwall in the list of the South West’s top 20 schools is a real honour and one that I hope will prove useful to parents when it comes to choosing the right school for their daughters.”
“As someone who firmly believes that an all-girls environment is the best place to encourage young women to be bold and ambitious, it is particularly pleasing to see that of the very highest academically ranked schools in the UK, more than half are girls-only.”
In recent months Truro High has seen a huge surge in enquiries with applications now coming in from all over the world. Some year groups are now nearing capacity with parents keen to secure a place for their daughters before it is too late.
On 26 January the school will open its doors to those girls seeking to take the 11+ and 13+ entrance assessments with a view to joining Year 7 and Year 9 in September. Some spaces are still available and those interested should contact the Registrar, Miss Catie Shaw, on 01872 242904.
