Two of the school’s eight-strong fleet of cars were out in force for this prestigious finale to the racing season following an impressive outing at the recent qualifier at Castle Combe. The Kernow Kittz and the 11th Hour sped round Europe’s fastest motorsport circuit placing 99th and 184th in the national rankings.

The cars sped into the top rankings alongside the Green Goddess which secured its place at number 85 in the UK at a recent qualifier at Castle Combe.

The wet and windy conditions did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of our girls and their can-do attitude was once again recognised as they were awarded the “Spirit of Greenpower” trophy. The award recognises the crew which shows the greatest team work and comradeship – qualities that the organisation believes every racing driver and pit crew should embody.

Truro High jointly earned the award for offering a helping hand to fellow Cornish school Penair. Unable to send a team to the finals, Truro High’s drivers kindly offered to race Penair’s car – Sub-Atomic – in their place.

The day was even topped off with a visit from ex-McLaren and Williams engineer, James Robinson, who once again rolled up his sleeves to help the school’s crew carry out repairs in the pits.
