Having spent months training and route planning, fourteen girls packed up their backpacks and set off for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure to canoe through this amazing landscape and experience the tranquil magnificence of the Swedish wilds for themselves.

Clear skies, balmy weather, fresh air and stunning scenery provided the perfect backdrop for the expedition and the girls were in high spirits throughout with more than a few verses of Mamma Mia sung to local passers-by.

Over the course of the twelve days, the girls really headed off the beaten track to roam this stunning landscape of lakes, islands, peninsulas and bays.

There have been plenty of opportunities to learn exciting new skills – including foraging, bush craft and wild camping – before putting them into practice as they faced the challenges of the wild with the support of their friends.

The adventure, organised by the school’s Duke of Edinburgh Award coordinators in conjunction with A2B Expeditions will contribute valuable points towards a gold award.

Flying back today, the girls said that they can’t wait to get back home and share the stories from this once-in-a-lifetime trip with their family and friends as well as putting their feet up for a well-earned rest.
