Recently returned from their runaway success at Falmouth University’s CreatEd Awards, the three-day exhibition showcased a stunning portfolio of girls’ work ranging from high concept sculptures to outfits inspired by anarchic irreverence of Vivienne Westwood.

Work created by pupils as young as 4-years-old was displayed in Truro High’s art department and textiles studio alongside pieces made by the school’s brightest and best young creatives.

Pieces included high-flying model birds created by the school’s Reception class, camera-less photography cyanotypes, Kurt Jackson-inspired abstract canvases and a huge sculpture inspired by the fall of Icarus.

GCSE and A Level pieces displayed in the exhibition won top-level awards at last month’s CreatEd Exhibition and Awards hosted by Falmouth University. Against nearly 25 schools and colleges from across the county, Truro High pupils celebrated their best year yet at the countywide competition and scooped three top-level awards and sixteen honorary commendations. This level of success was not matched by any other institution in the competition.

Head of Creative and Performing Arts, Mrs Judith Tutin said: “The exhibition is a fantastic representation of the kind of work girls of all ages create every day at school. There are a huge number of creative disciplines on show here and we are very proud to see the amazing results that come from letting our girls push their artistic boundaries and let their imaginations run wild.”
