Year 11 Elsa Barker-Brown was out on the open sea for six days in the 90-nautical-mile Leg 12 passage from Dartmouth to Falmouth aboard the trust’s voyage yacht Moonspray.

Only 100 young sailors, all of whom have undergone cancer treatment, were selected to take part in this challenging odyssey which was launched by the history-making yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur in 2003.

A seasoned pro out on the water, Elsa sailed with the charity last year from Cowes to the Isle of Wight and was delighted to again be selected to take part in this landmark event.

The challenge, which helps to rebuild confidence after cancer, uses sailing to support, empower and inspire young people aged eight to 24 to embrace their futures with optimism.

Between May and September, these sailors are taking part in an extraordinary 2,400-mile sailing relay around Britain to celebrate recovery, achievement and potential.

Up to five different young people are joining the crew for each leg, while three of the full-time crew have also been through treatment and benefited from Trust support.
