With the help of his friends at RNAS Culdrose and his trusty elves, the North Pole’s most famous resident flew across the county delivering presents to thousands of girls and boys before making his final stop at the award-winning girls’ school.

He was met by an excited crowd of over 300 schoolchildren and staff from Truro High School along with preschooler’s from Naturally Learning Nursery who cheered and waved as he arrived.

The seasonal call-out was part of the squadron’s final twenty-four Santa Drops which will take place over the Christmas period.

Having carried out over 40 years of rescue operations from RNAS Culdrose, saving thousands of lives, 771 Naval Air Squadron (NAS) has entered into its last month of search and rescue tasking.

On 1 January 2016, the baton of responsibility will be passed onto the Maritime and Coastguard Agency contractor Bristow Helicopters, based at Newquay airport.

Head of Prep School, Mrs Alison Miller said: “Having just finished Christmas lunch our girls were full of festive spirit and this afternoon’s visit was the star on top of the tree! Special events like this are exactly what Christmas at Truro High School is all about and we would like to extend a huge thank you to Father Christmas and his friends at RNAS Culdrose for making our day truly magical.”
