The Choir paid tribute to those who had fought as part of the RAF Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary Commemoration held at Truro Cathedral. The ceremony also marked the 70thanniversaries of VE and VJ Day.
The girls performed to a full house including RAF personnel past and present, cadets, civic leaders and local dignitaries, including the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall. There were also a significant number of WWII veterans present at the ceremony.
They sang Sebastian Temple’s Make Me A Channel of Your Peace and Howard Goodall’s The Lord is my Shepherd.
Head of Music, Mr Rob Norman said: “It was a great honour to pay tribute at an historic ceremony such as this, especially as we were the only school choir to perform. We have some very hard working and gifted musicians at Truro High and it is a testament to our girls’ talent that they are invited to events of regional and national significance.”
The School’s Choir was the only one to perform earlier in the year at Dawn French’s installation as Chancellor of Falmouth University.
Following the service, the congregation were led by the Band of the RAF Regiment to join the Truro Day festivities marking the day as a celebration of the Battle of Britain, the Royal Air Force and Truro.
