A severed foot in a boot has been found by a dog walker, in Nansavallan Woods, near Truro.
The foot and the boot is thought to belong to Lee Gilbert, 39, from Penryn, although there have been no DNA tests to confirm the belief. Lee Gilbert disappeared from his home on Monday, June 19 this year, which apparently was uncharacteristic behaviour.
Year 9 student Catherine, of Truro High School for Girls, lives near the woods. She gave us her experience on this horrific matter. Catherine said: “I only found out because I saw police on my driveway. I asked them about it and I was going to help them look for more body parts, but it was Halloween – so creepy – and it was also very foggy. It was my neighbour’s son with his dog who found it.”
The police don’t suspect any foul play yet and are treating it as “non – suspicious”. They have informed the coroner.
Lee Gilbert was wearing brown, Karrimor boots and a small black rucksack at the time. He is described as white, 5ft 3ins in height, of medium build, with brown greying hair which is balding at the back. The police urge anyone who has seen him to come forward.
The incident occurred in the late afternoon of Thursday, October 20.
