Truro High takes the honours in the Rotary Club’s Young Writers’ Competition
The contest called on entrants to write imaginatively around the title “Reflections” and attracted numerous entries from across the local area.
Top prizes in the intermediate and senior categories went to girls from Truro High with first place spots going to Year 9 Felicity Hood and Year 10 Emily Brewer. Second place in the senior category went to Year 10 Charlotte Brown whilst second and third in the intermediate category went to Year 8 Charlotte Coney and Year 9 Hannah Stephens respectively.
The judges complimented the girls on producing some impressive pieces which showed “exceptional originality” of thought.
Following in the footsteps of their classmate Ella, who was last year crowned the national winner of the intermediate category, Emily and Felicity’s work will now be judged against the top creative writing pieces from across the region.
Ella beat off nearly 4000 entries from across the country to win this coveted title and the girls are hoping to match her success and make it all the way to the top.
The Rotary Club Young Writer’s competition offers talented young creatives the opportunity to develop their literary voice and share their imagination and creative flair with the public.
