Costa Award-Winning Author visits Truro High

Set in Cornwall, ‘Runners’ tells the story of two children who are regarded as outlaws by a futuristic society that is trying to counter the devastating effects of climate change, over-population and global food shortages. Ann, who won the 2007 Costa Children’s Book of The Year award for ‘The Bower Bird’, read extracts from the novel and answered questions from the Year 10 and 11 pupils present.
“Ann is an excellent writer and the girls were really pleased to have the opportunity of meeting her and hearing what she had to say,” said English teacher Juliet Trewellard. “Her new book really captured their imagination and lots of copies were sold.”
Ann Kelley’s ‘Runners’ is published by Luath Press and is available from local bookshops or online from the publisher.
