Christmas Choir Trip to Germany

Pupils from Truro High School's choir have sung in some spectacular places and, to add to their growing list, they will soon be travelling to Germany for a festive reason.

The excited girls, aged between 11 and 17, will be performing in Christmas concerts around Munich, some located in famous places, from the 9th to 16th December.

The first two concert venues are in Affing, home to one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe. As well as performing, the girls will also be able to have free time to soak up the atmosphere and to do some last minute shopping.

Additional concerts will take place in the famous district of Bogenhausen and the beautiful old town of Rosenheim. There will also be visits to a water park, Mozart’s Salzburg where a special dinner will be laid on for the girls and a visit to Seppenbauer Farm, a place where the girls will be taught about German/Bavarian Christmas traditions and where they will get to go on a sleigh ride.

Truro High School’s Director of Music, Frances Eagar, said: “We’ve got 24 girls on this trip with four teachers and four parents. Planning started when we got back from Hong Kong in April and the girls have been practising since the term began in September. We’ve got three singing soloists and one flute soloist, all in all a packed performance for a packed trip!

“The girls are really looking forward to performing in some fabulous places and learning a lot about the culture.

“They are also desperately praying for snow which would really add to the experience!”
