Bishop celebrates Confirmation

Seven Truro High School pupils have been confirmed in a special service celebrated by The Bishop of Plymouth, The Right Reverend John Ford.

The service was held at St John’s Church in Truro and was attended by friends, family and school staff. Two pupils from Archbishop Benson School were also confirmed.

The Bishop proved an entertaining celebrant, regularly interacting with the congregation and explaining what the day’s Gospel meant and why his mitre was shaped like a candle and why its two tails represented bookmarks in the Bible.

“The service was lovely and certainly proved a memorable occasion for everybody there,” said Truro High School Headmistress Caroline Pascoe. “The Bishop was great fun and took the time to make sure what was happening was relevant and meaningful.”

Two of the girls being confirmed were also baptised.
