Truro High School present 'The Importance of Being Earnest' - Last Night @ Truro High School, Main Hall | Truro | United Kingdom

Girls from the age of eight to eighteen are busy rehearsing, building sets, creating props and making costumes for Truro High School’s production of Oscar Wilde’s witty satire ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’.

Friends Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff concoct elaborate deceptions to woo their love interests, Gwendolen and Cecily, but their carefully arranged schemes cannot hold up for long. What follows is a farcical web of mistaken identities and witty banter as three love stories are simultaneously played out with characteristically Wildean panache.

Backstage, students are hard at work on artistic creations to perfectly dress one of the central characters the play revolves around: the Victorian drawing room. Screen printing everything from curtains to wallpaper with beautiful art nouveau designs the students can’t wait to see their pieces bring Wilde’s farce to life on stage. Our GCSE and A level Textiles students have created period costumes which even incorporated some genuine vintage pieces for all cast members.

Tickets for the Truro High School production of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ cost £7 or £5 for children and can be purchased via the school reception on 01872 272830 or at reception@trurohigh.co.uk.
