Chinese New Year celebrations

8th February 2016 all-day
Truro High School for Girls
Falmouth Rd, Truro, Cornwall TR1 2HU

Pupils at Truro High will be broadening their cultural horizons this February as the school shares in the traditions of its international boarders and celebrates Chinese New Year.

On Monday 8 February, girls will have the opportunity to mark the beginning of the Year of the Monkey in style with a non-school uniform day themed around the colour red.

Symbolising good fortune and joy, it is hard to miss the colour red during Chinese New Year. The practice of giving a monetary gift in a red envelope on special occasions is particularly  popular during the celebration.

There will also be a wide range of traditional Chinese games and crafts in the Main School Hall for girls from all years to take part in at lunchtime.

Our boarders will round off the festivities with a delicious banquet at dinnertime.
