We are more than happy to give you a bespoke tour of the school and arrange a personal meeting with our Headmistress during a normal working day. A typical visit lasts one and a half hours and we would encourage you to bring your daughter with you.
Alternatively, and as a first step, you might like to join us for one of our Open Mornings.
Once you have visited the school, the next step is to arrange a Taster Day. This will be organised to suit your daughter’s schedule and that of the relevant year group. Prospective pupils join us for a normal school day or two. They wear their current school uniform and will be looked after by a host pupil at all times. We have found the Taster Day to be enormously useful in giving girls a real feel for the style, ethos and routines of the school. There is no charge and school lunch is provided. Those girls seeking a boarding place will also be invited for a Taster Sleepover.
If you decide that you would like to apply for a place at the school, you need to complete an application form which can be requested from our Admissions Team by emailing email@example.com. This should be returned together with the £100 non-refundable registration fee.
Girls will be required to sit entrance examinations for entry at any stage from Year 7-10 (please note that entry at Year 11 is rarely possible). Children entering the Prep School are informally assessed during their Taster Day(s).
Senior School Entrance day takes place in the January of Year 6.
Examinations for entry to Years 8-10 take place as required. Please note that Scholarships (Academic, Music, Sport, Art and Drama) are available for entry to Year 9 but can, on occasion, be offered for entry to Years 8 and 10 as well.
Entry to the Sixth Form generally requires 7 passes at GCSE (grade C or higher or equivalent) with at least a grade B (preferably A or A*) in those subjects the candidate wishes to study at AS/A2 level. Scholarships are available for entry to the Sixth Form. These are assessed in November of Year 11 via examination papers and auditions/assessments as applicable.
Offer of a place
If your daughter’s application is successful and you accept our verbal offer of a place, you will then be sent two copies of the Form of Acceptance together with a contract. You will need to sign and return one copy of the Form of Acceptance together with a £500 deposit (£500 for EU overseas students or £1000 for non-EU overseas students) in order to secure the place. This deposit is refunded when your daughter leaves the school – provided that our Headmistress has received one full term’s notice in writing of your intention to withdraw your daughter. It is not refundable should your daughter not join the school in the first place.
You will receive a joining pack containing forms (medical, school uniform, term dates etc) which you will need to complete and return before your daughter joins the school.
Please contact our Admissions Team on 01872 242902 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find more about joining Truro High.
