We are extremely privileged to have a hard working and expert board of governors, who offer support, guidance and a friendly face to our community’s team of academics.

The Governing Body at Truro High School meets at least once a term with sub-committees for Child Protection & Safeguarding, Education & Pastoral, Finance & School and Governance & Nominations meeting in advance. The agendas will vary from meeting to meeting but there are common features including the Headmaster’s Report and full reports from the chairs of the sub committees. The meetings will also refer to academic and pastoral issues that require review.

With activities such as welding with chocolate, creating solar energy cells from fruit and testing model boats in the school’s pool, International Women in Engineering Day is a fantastic inspiration for girls from across the county to explore the possibilities that engineering holds for them. Last year, almost 200 girls joined us to take part in these exciting interactive sessions.

Year 10 & 12 Work Experience Week
Jun 25 – Jun 29 all-day
Year 10 & 12 Work Experience Week

All pupils are expected to complete a week of work experience in the summer term of Years 10 and 12.

A work placement is an opportunity to spend a period of time outside the classroom, learning about a particular job or area of work. This helps pupils decide what they want to do for a career and also develops relevant skills and attitudes.

Specifically, work experience enables students to:

– discover more about jobs they are interested in
– learn how to deal with people, work in a team, use office equipment and IT packages
– talk to other employees and find out about what they do
– include details about their placement on their UCAS form, CV and job applications

There is a lot of competition for some placements so students should think about planning what they would like to do in advance. If they have any contacts in a particular area of work that interests them, they may wish to explore these at the beginning of Years 10 and 12. Our Work Experience coordinator at school will guide them through the process.

In preparation for moving up next September, new Year 7 pupils are invited to spend the day in the Senior School. This New Year 7 Induction Day will be followed by a new parents’ tea in the dining room at 3.45pm.

All Prep school classes will spend half an hour in their new class with their new teacher during the day. At the end of the day (3.30p.m. for girls going into Prep 1 and 2, 3.45pm for girls going into Prep 3 – 6) parents are invited to a short meeting with the next year’s teacher. This will be held in the teacher’s classroom.
