PTA

We are a very friendly group of parents who meet regularly to plan and organise fund raising events, discuss issues and encourage all parents to be part of the school community. Everyone is welcome and we appreciate any level of support. Our current co-chairs are Mary Hodgson and Lora Prynn.

Our PTA are a wonderful network of parents who come together regularly to support the school, plan activities and events for the girls and to raise funds for specific projects.

The main PTA committee meet once a month during term time to plan and organise the various activities. Everyone is welcome and meetings are held in the lounge of Rashleigh Boarding House at the start of the school day so are informal and welcoming. Details of forthcoming meetings are included in the weekly High Life e-newsletter so you can always stay up-to-date.

Our class reps system enables parents from each class to link up with someone who knows the ropes of how things work at school and can offer helpful advice and support to those new to the school. Class reps often organise events or activities which get parents and girls together and act as a go-between for communicating with the PTA and School.

The PTA are very active in supporting school events such as the Autumn Music Concert and the School Play, Sports Days and the Art Exhibition. We usually provide drinks and snacks and run a raffle at these events and generally help with hosting.

We also organise a number of fund raising events, such as the Fashion Show, Christmas Market and the Prep School’s Disco. These funds are then allocated to particular projects which benefit the girls.

Fun events, such as the summer Quiznic, are designed to get girls and parents together purely for enjoyment with no particular outcome other than to have fun and get to know each other a bit better.

Parents’ Forums are held once a term and often reflect topical issues like exam revision, drugs and alcohol, social media and other forms of communication, body image, emergency First Aid, preparing a CV and interview techniques. Popular topics are re-run at a later date and at a different time (in the afternoon), to enable a different group of parents to access them.

During the summer months while the weather is good, the PTA’s ice cream stall is a popular initiative with parents and girls at the end of the school week.
