Friends of Truro High School

FoTHS or the Friends of Truro High School, evolved from what was formerly known as the PTA, which had served the School well for many years. This enthusiastic and ever-growing group of parents and teachers met regularly to plan and implement highly successful fund-raising activities. We owe them a great deal of thanks. They were responsible for funding a whole host of items and events.

Headmistress

The arrival of a new Headmistress ( Mrs Caroline Pascoe) led to a fundamental reappraisal of the School and all activities related to it; this included the PTA. After a great deal of consultation and even a Parent Questionnaire, a new group, called The Friends of Truro High was formed in 2010, as the successor to the PTA. Its brief was to carry on the good work of fundraising for the Girls but also and probably more importantly, to include the task of establishing and encouraging an active Teachers and Parents forum.

" As Mrs Pascoe put it at the time, “We are determined to provide the School community of staff and parents with a means of meeting regularly, in an informal setting where we can all exchange ideas and even concerns; and have some fun and entertainment at the same time and FoTHS will be the ideal vehicle".

At the moment the only contact between the two is on Parents' Evenings, though we are as a School always ready and available to meet parents to discuss any immediate concerns they may have. We want to change this into more regular but informal get-togethers. In order for it to be relevant it needs to be successful at tempting both parents and teachers to attend meetings and to join in. It's growing all the time and regular meetings are held in the dining room, once a month".

Our Meetings

Along with the new change of emphasis, came a new spirit of informality and a decided lack of ceremony. Agendas and formal meetings were dropped in favour of the much more casual and relaxed spirit of a members club; as that is precisely what it is, and all parents and staff are automatically members.

Members can be promised plenty of ideas and new friends. Foths need your thoughts and ideas so that can tailor events which enhance the experience of being part of Truro High but also to help the staff to ensure that your childrens' education is best suited to your needs and aspirations.

To get in touch about becoming a friend of Truro High School please call the school and ask to speak to Evan Morgans.
