Truro High School parent Emma Rimmer, who organised the event, presented a cheque for £500 to Mary Murfin. Her daughter Olivia, 7, and friend Emma Radford, both pupils at the school, accompanied her.

Mrs Murfin, who is the Children's Hospice South West Community Fundraiser for Cornwall, accepted the cheque on the charity's behalf.

She said: "What a joy it is to receive support from younger members of the community at such a special time of year as Christmas. Thank you and well done to everyone who helped make the event such a success."
