  • 26 November 2010 / ROMAN CAKE CREATES A STIR AT LATIN CLUB

This week some of the Year 7 Latin Club members joined Sixth Formers Poppy and Tabitha in making Roman Bread during their lunch time. Ricotta cheese, flour and egg, beaten, folded and baked and then topped with runny honey proved a (surprisingly!) tasty treat. The other half of the group, with Sixth Formers Olivia and Hollie, cooked last half term and so spent their lunchtime puzzling over Roman numerals. The whole group has been very enthusiastic and the club provides a useful introduction to Latin which is taught from Year 8 up to A level. Read full article...

This term 20 Sixth Formers are undertaking an 8-week introduction to Surf Rowing at Falmouth as part of their Wednesday afternoon enrichment activities. It's proving a big hit, come rain or shine, and many of the girls are intending to carry on with the sport in the New Year. Who knows - perhaps they intend to 'take on' their Olympic Rowing Headmistress Caroline Pascoe who took to the oars one week herself? It is reported that she felt pretty stiff and tired the next day! 26 November 2010 / CHRISTMAS FAYRE FESTIVITIES

Organised by the Friends of Truro High School (FoTHS), the event was extended this year to include the senior as well as the prep school. Local traders had been invited to participate - providing a wide range of stalls from which to buy, alongside games, tombolas, refreshments and other activities organised by the girls.

The prep school event was held in the school's dining hall where Father Christmas considerably increased the children's excitement by making an early appearance in Santa's Grotto and giving out presents. The senior event was staged in the Main Hall where the Truro High choir provided musical accompaniment in the form of Christmas carols.

"We decided to make the Christmas Fayre a whole school activity this year and it's certainly resulted an extremely well-attended occasion that everyone has really enjoyed," said Headmistress Caroline Pascoe. "A lot of money has been raised for both the school and local charities and the girls have had great fun planning their own stalls. It's proved a fantastic start to the Christmas season."
