15 February 2012 / TASTE OF CHEMISTRY STUDENT LIFE FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
The girls will spend three days and two nights at the universities staying in Halls of Residence and using the universities' laboratories to carry out new, exciting experiments and attending lectures for further background information. In the evenings they will also enjoy social activities such as quiz nights or bowling.
Describing the camps as very competitive to join, Head of Science Mark Patchett is delighted with the girls' places.
He said: "One of the chemistry teachers, Andre Letheren, held a competition that asked pupils to write about why they like chemistry. The three girls were chosen and were put through to the application process. It is a real achievement that the girls have been selected and I really hope they enjoy life as a student, even if it's only a taster, and develop their interest in chemistry."
Ends 15 February 2012
