Admissions : Entry Procedure, Visits & Taster Days

Initial Visit:
Whilst we hope you will come along to our October Open Morning we are more than happy to give you a bespoke tour of the school and arrange a personal meeting with the Headmistress Mrs Caroline Pascoe during a normal working day. A typical visit lasts one and a half hours and we would encourage you to bring your daughter with you. Mrs Pascoe would certainly like to meet her before any place is offered at the school.

To book a visit please call the Registrar, Mrs Ellison on 01872 242904 or email admin@trurohigh.co.uk

Taster Day:
Once you have visited the school, the next step is to arrange a Taster Day (or a Taster Session for nursery entry). This will be organised to suit your child's schedule and that of the relevant year group. Prospective students join us for a normal school day. They wear their current school uniform and will be looked after by a host pupil at all times. We have found the Taster Day to be enormously useful in giving girls a real feel for the style, ethos and routines of the school. There is no charge and school lunch is provided. Those girls seeking a boarding place will also be invited for a Taster Sleepover.

To book your Taster Day please call the Registrar, Mrs Ellison on 01872 242904 or email admin@trurohigh.co.uk

Registration:
If you decide that you would like to apply for a place at the school, you need to complete an application form which is found at the back of the prospectus. This should be returned to the Registrar Mrs Ellison together with the £50 non-refundable registration fee.

Entrance examinations:

Girls will be required to sit entrance examinations for entry at any stage from Year 7-10 (please note that entry at Year 11 is rarely possible). Children entering the Prep School are informally assessed during their Taster Day(s) and do not sit formal entrance papers. Please note that girls in our own Prep 6 are guaranteed automatic transfer into the Senior School.

11+ entrance examinations, together with auditions/assessment for scholarships, take place in the January of Year 6. This academic year the 11+ entrance examinations will take place on the morning of Saturday 14 January 2012 with Scholarship Auditions/Assessments the following day, Sunday 15 January 2012.

Examinations for entry to Years 8-10 take place as required. Please note that scholarships are not available at this stage.

Entry to the Sixth Form requires 7 passes at GCSE (grade C or higher) with at least a grade B (preferably A or A*) in those subjects the candidate wishes to study at AS/A2 level. Scholarships are available for entry to the Sixth Form. These are assessed in November of Year 11 via academic scholarship papers and musical audition if applicable.

Offer of a place:
If your daughter's application is successful and you accept our verbal offer of a place, you will then be sent two copies of the Form of Acceptance together with a contract. You will need to sign and return one copy of the Form of Acceptance together with a £200 deposit (or £1000 for overseas students) in order to secure the place. This deposit is refunded when your daughter leaves the school - provided that the Headmistress has received one full term's notice in writing of your intention to withdraw your daughter. It is not refundable should your daughter not join the school in the first place.

Joining Pack:
You will receive a joining pack containing forms (medical, school uniform, term dates etc) which you will need to complete and return before your daughter joins the school.
