Academic: Art, Design and Technology

Art, Textiles and Food are taught separately, in specialist facilities, by specialist subject teachers. We focus on excellent teaching and learning around the Art, Design and Technology processes and operate as an integrated Department sharing a common philosophy - to encourage all students to realise their full potential in all three subject disciplines offered by the Department. Our students are encouraged to focus on skills and problem solving, with clear reference to the real life and career applications of these areas of study.

The Department is accommodated in six rooms, comprising three Art studios (with clay ovens), a Textiles workshop, a Food Room and Photographic dark room.

We operate an open door policy in the Department and students are encouraged to use the facilities outside lesson times. As well as working on their curriculum projects the girls can also opt to join some of the extra-curricular clubs such as Life Drawing, Art Club, Textiles Club, Lace Club and Photography Club.

Our students excel as Artists/Designers and have applied their skills in industries as diverse as Architecture, Engineering, Graphic Design and Fashion. We have introduced into the Lower School a wider range of technologies e.g. Resistant Materials (Jewellery) and Product Design/Graphic Product/Packaging
